The game
Pick nine big league hitters before the postseason starts. Every home run they hit in October scores points, and a home run is worth more in each round. It’s free, and everyone plays on one board. The Postseason Classic runs from the first pitch of the Wild Card round to the last out of the World Series.
Your nine
Hitters are sorted into four tiers by regular-season home runs through August 31. Pick one from Tier 1, two from Tier 2, three from Tier 3 and three from Tier 4.
- Anyone can pick anyone. Other players may pick the same hitters you do.
- Your nine must be nine different hitters.
- Change your picks as often as you like until the first pitch of the postseason, Tuesday, September 29. Then your nine is set.
Who can be picked
Any hitter on a big league club’s 40-man roster or 60-day injured list at noon ET on September 1, which is MLB’s postseason eligibility deadline. A hitter scores only while his club is playing.
Scoring
Only home runs score, and all nine of your hitters count; there is no bench. A home run is worth 1 point in the Wild Card round, 2 in the Division Series, 3 in the League Championship Series (LCS) and 4 in the World Series.

Bonuses add on top of the round’s points and are not multiplied: grand slam +3, walk-off +1, inside the park +2. They stack, so an inside-the-park walk-off grand slam in the World Series is worth 10.
Standings
- One board ranks every entry by total points.
- Tied on points? More home runs ranks higher.
- Still tied? The entries share the place.
- A group sees the same ranking, showing only its members.
What it doesn’t have
No draft, no weekly lineups, no trades and no waivers. No bench, no pitchers and no other stats. No entry fee and no prize. One set of rules for everyone.
